Bang A Rang!
Bangs are a great way to change up your look. If you have long hair and want to mix it up, sporting some bangs is a great way to brighten up your face without losing your length. Bangs are also a great way to make your hair look healthier and your face look younger. With so many benefits to taking the plunge, many women are still intimidated by bangs. At Style House Salon, we always hear women asking, “am I too old for bangs?” or, “do I have the right face shape?” Let’s break down the basics and uncover who can rock the look and who should keep it long.

#1 Curly Hair
We love our curly haired gals, but bangs are a tough look to pull off when you’ve got tangled tresses. Unless you want to spend hours styling, curling or even straightening your bangs we typically steer you away from this look.
#2 Square Faces
A square face has angular features. Many women with square faces look to soften their look and bangs are a great way to do that. Consider side swept bangs that barely touch your brows. Ask your stylist about a heavy bang too, because square shaped faces can handle this look. Just be sure to get an angled bang because a blunt look will make your face look even more angular.
#3 Round Faces
If you have a soft jaw, you want to actually create angles. Avoid wispy bangs because they will not help create dimension in your face. Try a side swept bang to create some shape in your cheek and jaw line. You may even want to try a bang with a little bit of curl to add some dimension to your face. Blunt bangs are not recommended unless the look is longer on the side and shorter in the middle. Again, adding dimension is the name of the game with a round face shape.

#4 Heart-Shaped Faces
A heart-shaped face has a wider forehead than the jaw line. A lot of women try to add balance to their face and bangs are a perfect styling tool to do so. Avoid blunt cut bangs and try a sweeping look. Layered or feathered bangs are a trendy and stylish way to add dimension to your face too. Definitely aim for long bangs, as shorter styles will only make your face look less proportionate.

#5 Oval Faces
Girl, if you have an oval shaped face you have it all! Oval faces can pull off almost any look. So go big or go home! Short look, blunt bangs and feathered hairstyles are all beautiful options for oval faces!
